As a company that has a strong commitment to sustainability, AG starts from within, but also helps others as they seek to make their own transition.
From the starting point of offering sustainable products and services to customers, AG has taken things to another level. Targeting the 4,000 independent insurance brokers it relies on for the distribution of its products and support to the end customer in the event of claims, AG launched the first CO2 calculator in Belgium for brokers. Through this online tool brokers can easily calculate the ecological footprint of their activities in detail and reduce their CO2 footprint through impactful actions tailored to their office.
While large companies are very actively involved in sustainability, engagement by smaller companies is often more difficult. Go4Impact is a user-friendly platform that helps to achieve sustainable acceleration in the broker network.
Brokers firstly complete a simple questionnaire about their business activities. Based on, for example, the office space and the way of heating, the number of employees, the possibility of teleworking, commuting, professional travel and the company fleet, the tool calculates the total CO2 emissions of the agency and the various sub-activities.
The Go4Impact platform then provides concrete actions that brokers can take to reduce their emissions. Consider installing solar panels, making lease bicycles available for commuting, greening the company fleet, installing charging stations, and so on. And when brokers select actions, they get an idea of the expected impact for their office in a personalised dashboard, allowing them to pick and choose those actions likely to have most impact.
Brokers can also register for projects with an ecological or social approach. In collaboration with Time4Society, AG enables brokers to participate with their office in socially valuable team building activities. Through Go Forest they can have trees planted in Belgium and through Digital for Youth they can donate their used laptops to promote digitisation among young people.
Go4Impact in action
Belgian Insurance broker Paul Keulemans has already evaluated the platform. Five years ago, he moved with eight employees to a new office building that he completely renovated.
I consciously opted for excellent insulation, underfloor heating that can also cool, lots of natural light and LED lighting, and the most modern solar panels in our new office building. We also installed two charging stations. We are updating our fleet step by step, with already one 100% electric car and several hybrid vehicles. Go4Impact confirmed that we had made the right choices five years ago, but it also showed how we can still make progress in the field of commuting. In concrete terms, in the coming months I want to look together with my employees at how we can exchange the car for the bicycle more often.
